Upgrade from Standard to Enterprise edition 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed standard edition of sharepoint 2007 on a windows 2003 server. Can I upgrade to enterprise edition from standard edition to turn on some services? Or do I need to install enterprise edition on the server? Please send me the link if there is a way to upgrade from standard to enterprise edition.

It's a good article and ought to be read by the OP but it is not really about upgrading the CALs (you just buy additional Enterprise ones), it's more about upgrading your existing sites having moved to an Enterprise License.

As such it is indeed esssential information.

  • Upgrading from Standard to Enterprise is possible by changing the license key to that of an Enterprise key.

You will also need to add Enterprise CALs for all your users (who now all will have Standard CALs - Enterprise CALs cost roughly as much as Std CALs and for users of an Enterprise version of MOSS 2007 *both* Std and Ent CALs are needed).

(You can't go back to Standard from Enterprise by changing the key - Upwards only.)

  • Go to Central Administration > Operations > Convert License Type.

This will show you the type of license you currently have and you can upgrade from Standard and Enterprise

  • Hi ChitraSaha,

In addition to Mike said above, you can take your time to refer to this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261946(office.12).aspx. It will tell you how to upgrade from an Office SharePoint Server 2007 Standard CAL to an Enterprise CAL.

    Thanks & Regards,
