Flash crashing on a website with heavy flash usage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have an issue right now where flash is crashing on a website that uses flash heavily.  Its not a corporate wide issue and affecting only a handful of users.  Any pointers as to what it may be? Or log files to check?

  • Hi,

    Start>event viewer

to view any event logs for IE.

The first step in troubleshooting web browser problems is to start in no Addons mode (start>run>iexplore.exe -extoff - disables COM addons and leaves ActiveX (flash etc) enabled)

Depending on your IE version ActiveX filtering may be turned on (tools>ActiveX Filtering) and you site may be using third-party flash video which features tests for ActiveXObject support.

f12>Console tab to view any suppressed error messages.
Debug tab, search any code branches using ActiveXObject or navigator.userAgent.

You can check for newer versions of Adobe Flash from Start>Control Panel>Flash 32bit>

    Regards.
