Updating the Evaulation Version RRS feed

  • Question

  • Back with another installation question..

Is it possible to update the evaulation editions to Service Patch 3?  I've installed the 32bit Evaulation edition, which Patch 3 (which I assume is cumulative) refused to patch.   I tried the same with the 64 bit edition on Windows Server 2008 R2, and this too refused.

I want to assess these products specifically in relation to SharePoint, so running them without SP3 serves no purpose for me.  Can anyone suggest anything?

    Comments/questions welcome.

    Cheers
    Steve

  • Hello Steve,

No, you can not patch the Evaluation editions with current service packs.

Can I ask why you think you need to have SP3 loaded to assess the product with SharePoint?  The PerformancePoint Monitoring Server works with SharePoint at the RTM release.

    Thanks

  • I didn't know that, I thought that SP3 is what added the SharePoint integration.

I did uninstall the evaulation version, to install RTM but the Service Patch still won't install.  Having checked the event logs/viewer, the patch still thinks that the Evaluation version is installed.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can change this?

  • I believe you should be able to install the service pack if you run this from the command line with the SKIPREQCHECK=1 option.

Take a look at this posting as well http://performancepointblog.com/2008/06/installing-performancepoint-fixes-on-the-allup-bi-vpc-version-6/.  If you do a search on the SKIPREQCHECK=1 you will come across other examples as well.
