Patching Issue in Windows Server 2008 Std SP2 which patching from WSUS. Checking for update going on and on.

  For the patching issues I'd verify system and servicing health by running;

  sfc /scannow

  also system update readiness tool

  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821

  Then check for errors in;
  %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

  For WSUS issues I'd ask for help over here.

  Hi Pinaki,

  In addition to Dave, please also do the following things, check if it could be of help:

  1. On the problematic server, please clear SoftwareDistribution folder. To do it:

  1) Stop windows update services;

  2) Delete or rename SoftwareDistribution folder;

  3) Start Windows Update services;

  2. Restart BITS service;

  3. Try reset windows update components:

  4. Check the windows update log in C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log, check if there's any error.
