Constant Internal HDD chatter/access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just got Vista up and going about a week ago and have been having a problem with constant hard drive access. I thought it was possibly a page file access because I only had 1 GB ram installed and the Intel video card uses 128 of that via DVTM. I tried using a 2GB usb drive to help alleviate some of the access on the HD but, still, consistent hard drive chatter. I bought another 1 GB of ram, so now I have a total of 512 x 4 installed. Still; at times the hard drive will constantly run. I know little about the new resource monitor but I'll check it and it shows very little CPU activity, little to know network activity, no memory access, and a constant hard drive activity at about 100KB to 1MB a second. I don't know what else could be causing this. Any suggestions?
