  • Hi All,

Is there is a way to exclude certain attribute members (of a dimension) while slicing and dicing?

    Thanks!

  • There are two ways to do this.  In the cube, you can create Perspectives that allow you to exclude certain attributes and dimensions from the cube.  ProClarity treats Perspectives just like another cube.  However, this feature requires SSAS Enterprise Edition.

In ProClarity, there is a feature called Cube Options, which is found under the Tools menu.  This allows you to hide certain attributes.  If you hide attributes and then save a page to a Briefing Book, the information on which attributes are visible is contained in the saved page.  When the book is published to PAS, the users of the saved view will not see any of the hidden attributes in their various menus and dialogs.  Professional Client users will not see these attributes either but will have the ability to un-hide them by going back to the Cube Options dialog.  It is nice feature for doing what you are looking for but it can be a pain to maintain over time, so use with caution.
