In Office 2010, edit a Macro that was created in Word 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a macro that was originally created in Word 2003. Now I need to edit it in 2010 and I'm getting the "Project Locked: Project is unviewable" error when I try to open the project in VBA. What do I have to do it to edit this macro? I can get the macro functions to appear in the Add-Ins tab, but I need to edit the code to get them to work in a new setting.

    Thanks.

  • If the macro is appearing in the Add-Ins tab, it resides in an add-on template.  Unlike W2003, in W2007/10 you must be in the document in which a macro resides before you can edit it.

  • Open the global template as a document (via the Open dialog box) and then make the desired changes directly in the file. Save and close the file. Then restart Word so that the modified file is loaded into memory.
