Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 headset mic has stopped working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Earlier today I was playing a game while connected to a Ventrillo server, and talking using my MS Lifechat LX-3000. It has been working perfectly for several months. Without changing any settings other than the volume control on the cable, it stopped working and no-one could hear me speak.

The headphone speakers still are working fine.

Now, I opened a settings window in Steam and tried to test the mic. The volume bar that reacts to the sound does not move when i speak into the receiver, yet reacts when I tap or shake the cable. There is a constant low static noise as well during this testing.

This mic is still set as the default recording device and no options on the pc nor in any indiviual programs have been changed. Is there any definite way of checking whether this is a physical problem and can something like that be resolved?

    Thank you
