Windows 10 Unsigned ActiveX controls RRS feed

  • Question

  • In my job I need to connect to various DVR systems.  The web interface that they use is ActiveX based.  All are on the latest firmware with the latest web console.

In windows 8/8.1, you could just add the site to the 'Safe Site List' and it would install the ActiveX control in IE not a problem.  Now, when I try following the same steps - I get a UAC command prompt telling me that it has blocked the install or a potentially unwanted program.  There is no 'install anyway' button - just a close one.

Is there a way around this, as these DVR consoles are fairly integral to my job and without them ill be forced to downgrade back to 8.1

    I have tried -

    --Turning Off SmartScreen

--Turning off IE ActiveX security validations

    --Turning off Defender

--Adding site to safe site list

--reducing IE security to the lowest it can be

  • Hi Mark,

Could you please share us the screenshots of the UAC prompts here?

Regarding the ActiveX controls under Internet Explorer 11, please check:

    Use ActiveX controls

Change the UAC settings and see if this would make any difference.
