Default Project Site Permissions RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    I have inherited a Project Server Online environment and an having trouble understanding how the connected SharePoint sites get their permissions set. Each Project Site has the standard <Project Name> Owners / Members / Visitors groups that are mostly empty as well as a bunch of groups with "(Project Web App Synchronized)" after their names.

    I have two questions:

    1) The owners group has a single name in it from the person who set this up 9and has since left). How can I change the default that new project sites are set up with?

    2) Our Project Management Office wants to have control of the members of all groups. How is this managed centrally?

    Permissions are a complex area in Project Server/Project Online and far too detailed to explain here...  The best advice I can offer is to 1) check out which permission mode you are running under 2) spend time googling info regarding that permission mode.

    New projects created should have the default groups created.  Which permission mode is the PWA site using?  SharePoint or Project Mode.

    Question 2

     The groups can be managed by either project or SharePoint.  It should like you want PWA to do this and by building teams on schedules, setting up group syncs and enterprise resource pools, this can all be managed automatically for you.
