Installing SCCM 2012 R2 on Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V RRS feed

  • Question

  • Getting ready to setup a SCCM 2012 R2 site on Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V. I've read that I need to make sure I'm using a Legacy Network Adapter to be able to support WOL and PXE. Is that true?

  • I don't think so. You need to run the legacy network adapter on hyper-v clients if you want to PXE boot them. AFAIK that is not a requirement on the server though.

  • John is correct, there's nothing special server side, it's a target client that must use the legacy nice type n Hyper-V gen 1 VMs for PXE.

VMs do not support WoL though, but that's just for target systems, not the system sending the magic packet.
