Latest Office 2016 updates not needed in WSUS RRS feed

    The last batch of critical updates are showing as 'not needed' in WSUS.

    WSUS is configured on a Server 2012 R2 installation. 

    All clients are reporting ok and all other updates are rolling out ok (all are showing as 100% up to date). 

    All our clients have Office 2016 installed so I thought they would be shown as 'needed' or 'installed'.

    The full list of problematic updates are;  

    KB3203478
    KB4011099
    KB4011092
    KB3191923
    KB3203482
    KB4011039
    KB4011093

    We are using the following product across the board;


    I raised it in the Office forums but Microsoft stated "As your individual clients are up to date, this is a WSUS issue".  

    I'm concerned other critical updates might not be rolling out.

    As far as I know, subscription Office products do NOT get updates through WSUS. Only VSLC Office products get updated through WSUS. Subscription based office products get updates directly from MS.

    Hi Adam,

    Thanks - this does makes sense. 

    I assumed they would be pushed out via WSUS with a Business subscription! 

    Time to stop assuming I guess :)

    Hello Dave,

    Frankly, the Office 365 Client category now appears in the WSUS Products and Classifications pane, and WSUS can sync this content.

    However, deploying these updates without Configuration Manager is not supported. Therefore, you can't deploy Office 365 updates with WSUS server only, you must combine SCCM and WSUS for deploying Office 365 client updates.
