Excel files open as read only even though user was granted full access on permissions. RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is the situation a user on the network once was able to access a shared folder on a 2003 Server and could edit excel files. Now she recently got an upgrade to a Windows 7 64 bit and issues started to occur including some of the excel files that she had full access to are now read only to her.

Not sure this is the direct cause of the problem but it is definitely weird that it happened. So why is this happening and are there any suggestions. This is what was done so far:

Windows 7 64 bit slow access to network files hosted on 2003 Server :

Tried the following to see if there would be any improvement:

    1.       Turned of WiFi – connected hard wire only – nope

    2.       Flushdns – nope

    3.       Tested network adapter – found nothing wrong

    4.       Disable Autotuning – Netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled

    5.       Turned off Remote differential compression

now it say read mode only for all files
