  • I'm receiving this same error on my machines.

  • I've discovered installing it separately and then installing the other updates works.  Or you can install the other updates and then it just disappears from the client.

  • Thanks for the response. My approach was to install all updates except the security-only update. This is how I understood Microsoft's recommendation "install all security and non-security fixes as we release them."  So basically I waited until "C week" updates synched up and then approved them last night.

    I'm not sure I understand the order of the updates as you installed them, but is this a practical approach for patching a medium-sized organizations lot of Win7 laptops?

  • For our servers, I just manually installed every update except 3185330 and then rebooted.  Once rebooted, the update was nowhere to be found.

    For our laptops/desktops, the update also disappears if you install all other updates first.  I'm declining the update for now and address the issue next update cycle or when I find out more.

  • I noticed in the WSUS console KB3185330 does not report as failed, but on the clients they do. A WSUS report on the clients advise it's listed as Approval=Install Status=Not Applicable. The question is why is this update listed as NA?

    So I guess Plan B going forward is to decline KB3185330 as you said and approve the Security Only KB3192391.

    Thanks

  • Yep, that's what I was kind of thinking too.  My assumption was that this was a security rollup and that it wasn't needed if the individual updates were installed already.  I haven't had a chance to dig into it much further.  Hopefully someone from Microsoft will chime in.

  • Why was this marked as an answer? Clearly it is not an answer.

  • Change TrustedInstaller timeout values

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TrustedInstaller]

    From
    "BlockTimeIncrement"=dword:384

    To
    "BlockTimeIncrement"=dword:2a30
