I have downloaded the windows virtual pc for my operating system. Windows 7 professional 64 bit... this is what I have installed on my system. I was able to download the application
fine, when I run it I get the agree to the terms message I click okay and then it initializes the installation and begins the install, then as it is installing I get a message that a problem has occurred (no information on what the problem was), but then right
away another message pops up ( I dont have time to read the whole
message on the previous error screen). The new window that pops up says some updates were not installed. "The following updates were not installed: update for windows (KB958559)"
This is the virtual pc update that I was trying to install. Rebooting the machine or temporary turning off MS security Essentials does let me install the application. I have
also tried to install it in a clean mode, where I turned off all services except for the MS services and disabled all startup items. Then rebooted.
When I check the event viewer under windows logs under setup I see a number of errors such as the following:
Windows update "Update for Windows (KB958559)" could not be installed because of error 2147956498 "The component store has been corrupted."

How can I solve this error message?
