Question

Hello SCOM guys,
I have a question if there is a way how to disable Auto-Resolve for monitors that generates alerts based on "Database Backup Failed To Complete" rule in SQL MP.
We want to close them manualy if they are generated.
Thank you

Database Backup Failed to Complete is a rule and has no auto-resolve feature, means that you should manually close to the alert or close by automatic alert resolution.

Hi
rule is state less and i recommend to create a rule for event id.
if you looking for monitor following are issue :
1)need to have good and bad event id to reset health on good event.
2) will not able to capture all event id as monitor do not have repeat count.
3) case high health state changes on monitor if manual time reset monitor is created.

Hi
"Database Backup Failed To Complete" is a rule based of event id but not monitor, rule is state less and alerts never auto-resolve.
auto-resolve option is available for monitor and can change value using override.

can I create a monitor based on event or on a rule with manual reset?
Yoy can create a monitor based on event . In scom, there are three kinds of simple event detection
1) Manual Reset
2) Timer Reset
3) windows event Reset
