Using restart function in Process Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have used process explorer for some time. One thing I have noticed is that if you highlight a process,  and chose to restart the process, it normally does restart, but it does not show up again in process explorer. To see that it has restarted you have to go to the Windows task manager. Any ideas on why this is and if it can be corrected?

  • Please, explain better what you are doing, because obviously it depends from the type of process you are restarting what will happen..

By example everything which is in a different session from yours won't be visible..

Also, a restarted process will be child of PE and no longer of Explorer..

Please give us the steps to repro with a standard process like Notepad.exe..

    Thanks
