Synonyms for table names

  • In a model I have a Revenues table with a Revenues measure.

I tried to create a synonym "Invoices" for the table, but the Q&A ignores my synonym and still displays the list of rows in the table if I type "revenues"

What could I do to solve the issue? (I'm trying to avoid renaming the table to Invoices because of many measure relying on that name - but I'd like to know how to handle that in general when I cannot rename tables).

  • Hi Marco,

If you always want "revenues" to map to the Revenues measure and not the Revenues table, you should ensure that "revenues" does not appear in the list of synonyms list for the Revenues table, including the first item in the list, which is displayed in black (this is the primary noun -- what Q&A shows to users in the restatement).

Note that you can't have an empty synonyms list for a table since Q&A requires at least the primary noun to show to users.  So instead of deleting all synonyms (including the primary noun), you can just change it to something else (e.g. "invoices").
