Firewall will not start. Windows 7 64bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I haven't been able to restart up my firewall.
Error code is 1068. I tried troubleshooting but here I am.
In system services it shows the setting is on automatic & services stopped.
I have also read in windows help that in the properties , I have local service selected with a hidden password,
then said I can just delete the password & that may help. But I'm not sure that's the best solution.
I also saw other system service settings turned off, like sending error reports of my logs to Microsoft for solutions.

Seems I had a virus that left a trail @ some point.

Also, when I Rt. click the task bar to select Task Manager,
just a window pops up with running processes that I am unable to
delete, zero control over the programs sucking up memory.
I resort to manually closing it or restarting computer.
On the bottom right corner there is a link that says services
which doesn't help me either. My antivirus is Avast & SuperAntiSpyware.

    Please help! Thank You!

  • Sir, follow these steps:
    • Click Start, Run and type Services.msc
    • Double-click the Network Connections entry
    • Set its Startup type to Manual
    • Click Start to start the service
    • Double-click Windows Management Instrumentation
    • Set its Startup type to Automatic
    • Click Start to start the service.

After starting the two dependant services, try to start the Windows Firewall service.

    Regards,
