Power Query SQL Encryption Settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi and Hello everyone,

we have a little Problem with the Powerquery Connector in our Company.

    Problem is:
In our Company "designes" a Customer Excelsheets with PowerQuery Connection to an SQL2012 Database.
Everytime when the Sheet will be opened, PQ takes a Connection to the SQL DB and put the actually Datas in the Sheet.
This Customer is working with an Notebook.
    Now comes the Problem:
In the PQ Settings for this SQL Database the Security Settings are set to: No encryption and Organisation

When any other Customer opens this Sheet, the Security Settings from SQL connection are: encryted and can not be opened.

Can anybody tell me, where PQ saves the Settings for User?
Can anybody tell me, where PQ saves the SecuritySettings for this  SQL Database?

It seems, the Settings are not stored in the Excel Sheet.I think, it will be save in the Users Profile.

    But where?

Another Information: The most User in our Company ar working on Terminal Server with Citrix.
But i think this is not the Problem.

    Thx and Greets

    Peter

  • Hi Peter. You're correct that user credentials (including whether the connection to the SQL server is encrypted or not) are not stored in the workbook, but in the user's local appdata folder. So if a user opens the workbook and refreshes, they will be prompted for credentials, and the settings used to create the workbook will not affect this.
