Windows 7 Hanging on Logging Off RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have several workstations a month that intermittently will freeze at "Logging Off."  I've enabled Verbose logon/logoff messages and they hang at "Stopping Group Policy Client."  I then bounce the Group Policy Client service and the PC continues logging off and rebooting.

The problem is, what policy is causing this?  It's impossible to recreate the issue and it happens a couple of times a week on completely different workstations.  I've scoured the internet and have not found any people who are having issues with the Group Policy Client service hanging on Logoff (I've only seen problems logging in).

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

    Do you have logoff scripts?

Create a new local user account and see if the issue persists.

Test the issue in Clean Boot mode and Safe Mode to check the conflicts.
