Icons in Windows Explorer? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any documentation that explains the icons in Windows Explorer?  Yellow folders, Green folders, Folders with shortcut arrows, Green folders that have additional icons.  Why are some folder names in all lower case - such as "c:\program files" and "c:\users\all users"?

    (using build 5728)

  • Windows Vista has very cool good look Folder icons, based on folder contents, you can see a perview of folder contents at galence (very clear when you select Extral Large Icon view), so colors are due to folder contents (i.e. an image with green color), and some folders are colored as compressed or encrypted (encrypted folders usually to get green color), regarding lowercase, in my Windows , I see only 1st letter is Uppercase and rest is lowercase (Program Files)...

Don't worry, Windows Vista has all options to satify your favorite view options, it's the AI!

    Good luck
