HP8760w and 8770w workstation laptops start up with no Aero RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having problems with multiple HP 8760/70w workstations around the office. On a random basis, these laptops will start up without Aero and the entire system crawls through normal processes. We run Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I have ran the cmd lines for the .dll for Aero and performed driver updates in safe mode when these problems arise. In safe mode, the computer seems to operate normally. It usually takes 2 hours of restarting and/or logging on and off and finally Aero and the performance of the computer works fine. The last workstation began working again after I ran Start Up Repair. The Start Up Repair did not find any problems but after it restarted, Aero came back. Any quick fixes for this when this arises?

  • Hi,

According to your screenshot, it seems like the system is not Windows 7, it's Windows XP. Windows 7 doesn't have this theame.

Did you use any 3rd theame in Windows 7? If so, try to uninstall them and using system built-in theamie for test.

In addition, if Aero Troubleshooter has find any problem with your system, please post the troubleshooting results here.

  • This is what the taskbar looks like during this. I failed to explain that it goes beyond Aero and reverts to a dated look, and I cannot enable any other look for the taskbar and application windows. The troubleshooter has not worked for me in the past. Thank you for the reply!

  • We run Windows 7 Professional on all of our workstations. Somehow the taskbar and the windows will look like XP/2000. The screenshot was from a random forum but the taskbar looks identical to that when these problems occur. I will try using those links and will post the results from the troubleshooter as well.
