  • There are many resources available for beginners starting SharePoint Development. I suggest before you opt for a book take a look at following free online resources and judge where you stand on SharePoint development. These training courses come with hands on labs so you will be getting right into development from the beginning.

    PS: Share you development experience / background , mostly people with solid ASP.NET 2.0 (and above) experience can catch up with the SharePoint development skills much faster as ASP.NET is core platform for SharePoint.
