Receiving HTTP 500 Error when running web standard and "Unable to run Proclarity Professional. Either..." and then it clears itself up after a period of time. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have been running Proclarity Web Standard and Professional without issues for over a year.  We have PAS & Performance Point on one server and SSAS on another server and using Kerberos delegation.

Periodically we have an issue when a user uses an URL link to our PAS server (http://dnsname/PAS) we get the "The Website cannot display page... Http 500" error.

I then try to ping the dns name and it pings just fine.  I then try to use http://ipaddress/PAS and i can get the libraries and everything to show, but when i click into a BB and select a page, using Standard i get the "The cube cannot be displayed or cannot be found" error.  I then try and use Professional and get an error "Unable to run Proclarity Professional.  Either the required components are not installed or you don't have permission to download them.  I this this error is a result of us not having an SPN setup for the IP address and not passing my credentials to the cube.

I then go onto the PAS server, and try http://localhost/PAS and everything works fine and I check the cubes from the SSAS server and they work fine.  All Performance Point Dashboards work, except those that use Proclarity views in them.

Just about the time I try more things, it starts to work again.  It feels like a DNS issue, but when I can ping it, it works, so that tells me that DNS is working.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any input as to where to start looking.

    Thank you..

  • We believe the problem has to do w/having Kerberos delegation setup and have changed our server name to be that of the dnsname.  We do not know if this worked as this problem is only intermittant and cannot reproduce it, but i will be closing this post anyway.
