Block a PSTN or Mobile number in Skype for Business RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We want to block a PSTN user to make the inbound routing to our Skype Environment. One PSTN user ia making incoming call to our EV enabled skype client. The calls are routed through the Avaya PBX.

Please help how we can block a number from Skype Server.

    Thanks

    US James

  • Hi US James,

There are a number of ways to achieve this, some better than others.

Firstly, have a think about what blocking a single number is going to achieve. Whilst this will work for one (or more) numbers, a caller who wants to cause trouble can simply block their caller ID or use a different phone to circumvent all your hard work.

If you're still wanting to block the number, i'd recommend doing this on the SBC or PABX. You can simply add a transformation rule for something along the lines of:

Calling Number: the number in question
    Translate to
    Calling Number: Junk number

You could even route the call through to another number, or to an announcement.

  • Is it the third party script or Microsoft provided?
