  • Question

  • I am having problems with IE 11.  I tried to research it by entering:
Your browser sent a query this server could not understand.

In the search box and got:

502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server.

Ok, I thought it was still a problem with IE 11 so I tried again with Firefox and got the same error.

Me too.  Mine was with Edge and of course was less specific about the nature of the problem.  Switching to IE helped.  Getting signed in helped.

Then try using Edge.  Try using InPrivate Browsing.  Change things.  Also, I just remembered that the first time, I was using it via Remote Desktop.  Changed that to avoid Remote Desktop and then switched to IE.

Also, is it just the Search that is the problem or any function here?  For example, can you open your My Threads while you are in the problem state?

  • Edge has the same problem.

    I am signed in.

If I click on saberman's threads it works and I can see my threads.

Edit: I was running in a VirtualBox VM.  I switched to a real machine (Surface Pro 4), logged in, did the same search using IE 11 and got the same error.

    So, search from there.
