    Testing recovery scenarios. If CM database is hosted on a remote SQL server and that server fails then trying to recover site using the backup

    However, the recover a site option is greyed out because the Primary site server is installed and functioning - its the remote SQL down

    Under these circumstances how do you recover the database?. I am testing setting up a new SQL 2008 server and then running the recovery option to restore the SQL database from the SCCM backup (i.e. not use SQL backup)

    Thanks. I guess this makes sense. It was just I had assumed you must use the recovery option from the primary site to corectly restore the SQL database on the repaired/new remote SQL server - hence why I was looking for the recover site option

    If you run Configuration Manager Setup from the Start menu on the site server, the Recover a site option is not available. You must run Setup from installation media
