IE 8, 9 - Redirect URL does not work RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using the following code to redirect a URL from public_html to a sub_directory

    		<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0;http://oregonaclb.org/aclb_prod">

    All non IE browsers work fine, but IE 8 & 9 bring up a blank page and appears to be continuously reloading.

  • DocBendIE.  Did you click the link, and also SaveAs the target to take a look?

    The w3 required form is:   <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="n; url=http://someurl" >    ( or optionally />  )

    Specifically, see value items 3 and 4.

    IE is unforgiving about the absence of space following the semicolon, and the absence of url= .

  • there is a security setting for meta redirects. by default only the Intranet and Trusted zones allow meta redirects.
