People picker Check name is taking unacceptable time after few trusts to other domain were setup to sharepoint domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there! People picket Check name seem to taking un-acceptable time for people search by name or display name, sometimes it take few minutes but most of the time it just doesn't come back with expected result/s though we are sure user exists in AD. We have Peoplepicker-searchforests set to base domain, it still looks to be searching other domains. We would like to understand the different between Check name and Browse functionality to help us understand why 'Check name' taking unacceptable time while the browse dialogue search works fine and comes with result/s within seconds. Thank you in advance Regards, Ram

  • After multiple article suggestion not helping to address the issue. We had to go for MS support. They have suggested below for different each version. Below statements have fixed my issue all working fine.

    MOSS farm(log into server open PowerShell and Type in below statement to set ActiveDirectoryRestrictIsolatedNameLevel); Note: STSADM doesn't set or effective

    [Reflection.Assembly]::Load("Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c")
    $url="http://stagews3.global.logica.com"
    $webapp=[Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebApplication]::Lookup($url)
    $webapp.PeoplePickerSettings.ActiveDirectoryRestrictIsolatedNameLevel=$true
    $webapp.Update();

    SP2010 (Log into WFE server, open Powershell for SharePoint), run below statement to set ActiveDirectoryRestrictIsolatedNameLevel)

     $wa = Get-SPWebapplication http://sharepointurl
    $webapp.PeoplePickerSettings.ActiveDirectoryRestrictIsolatedNameLevel=$true
    $webapp.Update();

    Best of luck.
