Problems with digitally signing documents RRS feed

  • We are looking at digitally signing documents that are stored in SharePoint 2007 to save printing them and then running around asking everyone to sign them.  However when anyone signs a document using the signature lines we get the error:  Invalid signature - This signed content or this signature have been modified.

    We are not using a central PKI server or bought signatures from a public PKI, instead we are creating or own personal signatures.  Even when we go to sign a document, Word tells us that the CA Root certificate is not trusted.  To enable trust, install this certificate in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store.  Installing the certificate in the trusted root certification authorities store means we have to re-create the signature when we next open the document to sign it.

    I've found some information on signing documents, but none of them really help.

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
