Migration from On-Pre SharePoint 2013 to Azure ( IaaS ) SharePoint 2019. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

We have SharePoint 2013 On-Premise Farm, Now we are planning to migrate our SP2013 on-premise Farm to SharePoint 2019 in Azure.

On-Premise: we know, we have to migrate our SP2013 Farm to SP2016 then we have to migrate SP2016 to SP2019.

I am little bit confused:  we have to create SharePoint 2019 Farm in Azure then using third party tool "ShareGate" we can directly migrate our Farm from SP2013 On-Premise to SP2019 Azure directly.

is this true?  if not, Please put some light on it.

can we have any documents or link for better understating and clarity?

    Regards,

    Manoj Kumar

  • That's True if you buy a 3rd party tools like Sharegate you can migrate directly from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint 2019 Azure directly you don't have to configure SharePoint 2016 again that process is for only database migration.

  • That's Correct, OWA/OOS cannot be run in Azure due to license restrictions. If you are planning to configure OOS as well then i would say you configure SharePoint 2019 in On-Premises only.

  • I would say custom forms would be a little problem because Sharegate doesn't support customized forms but sharegate still migrates content in it, other than that it's pretty awesome it does everything and they have best support team.
