Woah, Where is my D: Drive??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows XP computer, Dell Inspiron E1505. We got it in 2007 and it has wireless. So it is a bit older than alot of other devices. But, it is a very good computer. Recently, though, its D drive (CD and DVD drive, *excuse me if I misspell a few things my V key has to be pushed harder sometimes.*) Its D drive has gone missing, it has been replaced by a not working F: drive, and sometimes, depending on what disc you put in, it has an E: drive. This is my computer for personal use and I use it at school. can I please get some help on how to fix this? I don't care who in the world answers me, just can I please get some help??

  • This is the fix:

    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]
    Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
    Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
    Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.
    Exit Registry and Reboot
