Content-Type in Exchange 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, Everybody

    I have an issue, when a messages arrives at remove SMTP Server, the SMTP header includes Message-ID (with format number@server) in Content-Type shows Exchange server's FQDN. I am  sure this is because we have an Exchange Mailbox Server adds that information as the message passes through.

    Example:

    Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
     boundary="_000_3190268DC62C3B45840C7117546F27A220C4006713SERVER_"
    MIME-Version: 1.0

    X-OriginalArrivalTime: 18 May 2009 20:20:42.0332 (UTC) FILETIME=[1E13F1C0:01C9D7F6]

    --_000_3190268DC62C3B45840C7117546F27A220C4006713SERVER_

    --_000_3190268DC62C3B45840C7117546F27A220C4006713SERVER_
    Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

    </body>

    </html>

    --_000_3190268DC62C3B45840C7117546F27A220C4006713SERVER_--

    </pre

    I have tried to use header firewall, but it isn't the case (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232136.aspx)

    My Topology is:

    Exchange 2007 SP1 with Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 EE x64:
              2 Edge Server
              2 Hub Transport/CAS
              1 Mailbox Cluster (SCC)

    Question:
    How can I remove server name of Content-type?.  Is it possible to avoid the insertion of the server name?

    Many Thanks

    Edgar

  • Hi,

    I think you can only remove this by writing a transport agent doing the job for you. The mime boundary generation mechanism is an internal mechanism of the Exchange what I think cannot be modified.

  • Hi Zoltán, I think it's something Mailbox Server because in another organization with the same configuration, i have the next log without name server in mime boundary.

    Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
     boundary="_000_9ABB15C55097C9408B9D452B16DF16041EE01B34F8DFESFEEMCL01m_"
    MIME-Version: 1.0

    --_000_9ABB15C55097C9408B9D452B16DF16041EE01B34F8DFESFEEMCL01m_
    Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

    </body>

    </html>

    It could be permissions like header firewall permissions.

    Thanks
