OneDrive for business Group Policy Administrative Settings

    Question

  • I am planning to apply Group Policy Settings for One Drive For Business next gen sync client which is being rolled out to customers.

I downloaded the ADMX/ADML files available as part of One Drive For Business Administrative Settings. After downloading the files we uploaded them to our Group Policy Store and observed they are not being pushed to user machines.

Any inputs on what could be potential issue?

We are running Windows 2008 R2 and not Windows 2012 Yet.

Is Server Operating system an issue? If so, Is there a 2008 R2 compatible ADMX file for One Drive For Business next gen sync client?

    Thanks,

    kesari suresh

  • Hi kesari,
After you download the OneDrive for business Group Policy administrative files, please make sure that you have put it into files to your group policy central store on domain controller and then restart the GPMC to see if the related policy setting templates appear. After doing this, you could edit Domain-Based GPO with configuration of OneDrive for business and deploy the GPO to clients.
If you want to configure local GPO, please make sure that you have added OneDrive for business Group Policy administrative files into %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions\ folder, then restart Group Policy Object Editor which will automatically read all ADMX files in the folder.
Please see details from: Managing Group Policy ADMX Files Step-by-Step Guide
