Should I shutoff Windows Defender RRS feed

  • Question

  • I made a Clean Install of Windows 10 on my notebook and then I ran Autoruns.  Autoruns reported that 15 files that were running were not verified by Microsoft; most were for Microsoft Windows Defender Antivirus.

According to Task Manager Antimalware Service is consuming 83 MBs of memory on my PC. What if I went into Setup/Windows Security and shut-off Windows Defender and then installed some other antivirus/malware software, would it use less memory? Would it provide better protection?

  • The flagging of Windows Defender as unverified is caused by a change in the design of Windows Defender. There is a fix for this on the way.

You're worried about 83MB? How much memory have you got?
