    Hi All,

    1) We are planning to migrate Office communicator server 2007 r2 standard edition to Lync 2010 server.

    2) Is mediation server compulsory for enterprise voice?

    3) what is this option "Enable an edge pool to be used by the media component of this front endpool" represent and in what scenario we use it.

    Can any one guide me regarding the same.

    Hi,

    Mediation server must be there for enterprise voice.

    If you enable an edge pool to be used by the media component of this front end pool.

    This selection will configure the media component of the Front End Server.

    1) If the question is go or no go, it is a go

    2) Mediation server is required for enterprise voice, within Lync you may colocate this with the front end server

    3) We do not know your scenario, but the definition is simply found in the Lync Server 2010 documentation
