Local user client settings tweaks RRS feed

  • We're in process on rolling out FCS to 8000 or so systems and decided that our rank and file systems should be locked down by policy so that the users can't do anything with the client, but some of our more astute users want to be able to use the FCS client and they don't like our lockdown policy.

     

    I don’t see a way in the policy settings to allow All Users to see the status messages and initiate a local scan, but not be able to change User controlled settings or add exclusions. The table below is as close as I can get. Any ideas?

     

     

     

    Enabled Client options settings

    View notification area icon and status messages

    Open Client Security agent and run scans

    Change user-controlled settings

    Add exclusions and overrides

    ·         User can view all Client Security agent settings and messages

    ·         Only administrators can change Client Security agent settings

    All users

    Administrators only

    Administrators only

    No users

    indeed this is possible by selecting both options mentioned above.

    on the advanced tab, under the client UI part on the bottom, select the "User can view all Client Security agent settings and messages" option, and then mark the "Only administrators can change Client Security agent settings" on the right side.

     

    then deploy your new policy and that should do the trick.
