Managing Workgroup systems in internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a situation where, thousands of customer workgroup systems are in internet. They want it to report to SCCM using Cloud management gateway. Can anyone suggest the best way of doing it.

Also is it necessary for client workgroup systems to have a uniqu2 client authentication certificate to communicate to SCCM.

    Thanks,

    Shesh

Yes and that will be the greatest challenge.

Best way to do what? Have you reviewed the official documentation?

  • Have you reviewed the documentation I linked to? That's what it's there for.

  • I have reviewed the official document as well, no details about workgroup systems client install part. It explains about client certificate through group policy enforcement only.

  • Certificate installation really has nothing to do with ConfigMgr though -- that's a PKI related issue for which no easy solution exists for workgroup systems. There are many problematic management scenarios when it comes to workgroup systems -- that's the reason that they (Microsoft) created domains and that central authentication and management systems exist in the first place.
