Encryption of DPM data RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of our customers demands encryption of the DPM data. They run DPM 2012 R2 UR6 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 platform. Is there any way to perform this?

  • Hi Amir :)

There is no built-in feature to encrypt data saved to disk in DPM. You can however configure short-term retention using tape and configure encryption on the tapes.

Note: If the data you are protecting is already encrypted with NTFS it will also be encrypted in the DPM disk pool.

    Kind Regards

  • Nope. DPM dont offer encryption on disk backup. Only encryption on tape. You can refer to here on how to configure:-

  • Tack Markus! ;-)

Yes it's correct that there's no built-in feature to encrypt the DPM data, but would DPM accept/work with e.g. external solutions, e.g. hardware encryption of the volumes inside the diskpool?
