Turning off the screen crashes W7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I'm having a problem where if I turn off my computer screen (like press the power button to power it to standby/off) Windows 7 tends to crash, and the whole computer either restarts itself or is inactive. Have looked around the forums and around the net but no one seems to have an idea what the problem is or how to fix it. Any suggestions?

P.S The computer screen uses a DVI connection, does that help?

  • Check for memory dump files in either C:\Windows\Minidump (may be hidden) or for the file "memory.dmp" in C:\Windows
If you find them, try the instructions here for generating an analysis of the dump file:  http://usasma.vox.com/library/post/diagnosing-bsods-originally-posted-02oct08.html

If you don't find any dump files, then there may be other issues with the system.  Try looking in the Action Center for more information.

Do you still experience this behavior with your Windows 7 RC install?
