Using VISIO Built Network design and testing with simulation tools. RRS feed

I am trying to find a program/s that will allow me to test network security engineers at various levels of training. What I would like to do have students use Visio (as it allows you to design networks fairly rapidly and with detail) and then run the Visio network design through a simulator that will test and the students designs. This will also allow me to use it as a trouble shooting tool for teaching. My question is there such programs readily available and how complex do they get.

  • It might be a bit more complicated for what you're trying to do, but have you heard of Microsoft Spec Explorer?  It lets you model systems and generate and run tests against them.  It might not be the ideal solution or the easiest to setup, but it's probably the closest you could get that I'm aware of.  We'd welcome any feedback you have on it as well.

    Thanks,
