Sharepoint Permission mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am hoping to get confirmation that my understanding of sharepoint permissions mode in pwa 2013 is correct. Here is what we are hoping to do. We want to set up a user (that has a PWA license) with permissions to specific projects.  We want that user to have full permissions for the project file (the mpp).  We want to have that same user have the a different set of permissions for the associated project sharepoint site.  We do not want him to have the ability to change anything on the site.  I selected the three ellipses next to the project name in project web app and selected the share option and chose Full Control.  On the project site, I chose the share option at the top right of the screen under my name and selected the same person but this time I chose Contribute.  Will this do to set up a single individual with different permission levels in sharepoing permissions mode?  Thanks.

  • The first half is correct, but in the second part, you gave the user contribute. This gives the users the ability to make changes. You should give the user read or guest fights, if you don't want any changes.

  • When you create user on PWA and assign permission then he will be able to access PWA attribute as per that permission. NOW when you give specific permission for Project then some new attribute will be added to the User but only for that project. Then again if you will give him any other permission to the project site then he will abel to access the project site with tat permission level but only for that project site.

PWA user permission - PWA level Basic (Across the PWA site and all the project)

Project permission -- Only for that project (if you will give full permission he will have full authorization for that project not for other)(If you will check two kind of permission for same user on same project then user will get higher one)

Project Site -- You can assign him separate permission for that project site (If you will check two kind of permission for same user on same project site then user will get higher one)
