Offline Files Won't Activate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a rather peculiar problem on my hands. I recently purchased 4 new laptops for my company with windows 7 pro preinstalled. (I have 9 of the same laptops already running, same configuration) Once I set everything up on these computers, my last step is to make a user folder available offline to the user. On all 4 of these computers, I cannot get offline files to “activate”.

In the “Offline Files” console, under the first button (which reads “disable offline files”) it reads “Offline Files is enabled but not yet active. Restart this computer to activate offline files.”

I have restarted numerous times to no avail. I haven’t seen this problem on any forums or in the Microsoft database. I have however seen the exact same problem in a vista forum, but the fix (which was a registry change) did nothing. I have attempted to force the offline files active through the GPedit.exe but that did nothing.

    Can anyone help?!?!

All windows updates have been applied….

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Have you tried to configure offiline files to synchronize when a network connection becomes active:
1.Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Synchronize.

2.In the Items to Synchronize dialog box, click Setup.

3.In the When I am using this network connection box, choose the connection for which you want to specify offline Web pages and files to be synchronized.

4.All offline Web pages and offline files are displayed in the Synchronize the following checked items window. Check the items you want to be synchronized when the network connection becomes active.

5.Repeat steps three and four until you have configured the synchronization settings for each of your network connections.

6.Specify whether you want items to be synchronized when you log on or log off Windows.

    7.Click OK.

8.Click Synchronize to complete the synchronization immediately, or click Close to close the Items to Synchronize dialog box.

There is no "Synchronize" in Accessories.  There's Sync Center, but it doesn't have the options you describe.
