Is Sleep Mode safe on desktop PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got vista into sleep mode, then I cutted off the power. When I restart PC, it tells me "your pc is not shutdown properly" or something.<br> I thought "Sleep" would also save memory to HDD, so "sleep = standby + hibernite". But now it seems my data will be lost when unsuspected power down. Was there something wrong? Or is Sleep Mode just another name of Standby Mode ?

  • No, I have also tried sleep in my HP Workstation and on my Office PC too but it does't awake successfully after that (even if power is not disconected), I do't understand why microsoft has given a larg button to sleep (which does't work on most of the system). I do't think sleep is standby+hibernate.

I think in RC1 there should be some way to configure default behaviour of this button, so that users can change it from Sleep to hibernate or shutdown.
