    I hadn't changed any programs or installed anything before I left, and online everyone's saying it's accompanied by cpu spikes, but I'm not getting that. What's causing this, is it a virus or some corruption in my system?

  • SQx,

    Seeing the Farbar it was ran.

    When following the settings it displayed:

    Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x64) Version: 06.06.2018 01: FRST64 (3).exe - Bad Image

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows

    Defender\platform\4.14.17639.18041-0\MPCLIENT.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

    The Farbar scan was able to run but it had displayed the above problem.

    What is the significance of:  S2 NlaSvc; C:\Windows\System32\nlasvc.dll [0 2017-12-31] () <==== ATTENTION (zero byte File/Folder)

    Another thread can be started if necessary.

  • Hi JarethL,

    Try to run SFC /scannow command to see whether it helps.

    Regards,
