SharePoint site restore fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am trying to restore a SharePoint site collection on environment 'B'  from a  site backup taken on environment 'A' . while restoring the site, I get the error as

Restore-SPSite : Your backup is from a different version of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation and cannot be restored to a server running the current version.
The backup file should be restored to a server with version '14.0.0.4762' or later.
    At line:1 char:15
    + Restore-SPSite <<<<  -Identity https://contentadmindr.mycompany.com -Path "C:\BackUpFiles\contentA.bak"
     -HostHeaderWebApplication https://root.mycompany.com -ContentDatabase "new_site_DB" -Force
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (Microsoft.Share...dletRestoreSite:SPCmdletRestoreSite) [Restore-SPSite], SPException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPCmdletRestoreSite

and if try to restore site B1 from back of site B2 (both sites B1 and B2 are under the same web application in environment 'B'), then I get the following error:

Restore-SPSite : Your backup is from a different version of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation and cannot be restored to a server running the current version.
The backup file should be restored to a server with version '4.0.145.0' or later.
    At line:1 char:15
    + Restore-SPSite <<<<  -Identity https://contentadmindr.mycompany.com -Path "C:\BackUpFiles\contentB.bak"
     -HostHeaderWebApplication https://root.mycompany.com -ContentDatabase "new_site_DB" -Force

        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPCmdletRestoreSite

By running the build version command, I observe that both the environments have same build,

    (get-spfarm).buildversion

    Major  Minor  Build  Revision
    -----  -----  -----  --------
    14     0      4762   1000

    Note:
    (1) SP1 not installed on any of the servers
    (2) In this case Environment A is prod and Environment B is DR. If I take back up from environment A and restore it on Dev and UAT, it works fine but restore on DR fails by throwing the above errors.

Kindly provide suggestions / work around in order to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance
