IE 11 Crash on Windows 10: Faulting module name: uxtheme.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have been having a lot of users complain about IE 11 crashing multiple times a day. We currently think this is only affecting our 1809 computers and not our LTSB 2016 computers, but still trying to confirm.

    Any help appreciated!

  • Can you provide a few of the actual crash dumps, such as iexplore.exe.8592.dmp, via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?

  • I ran this by our security team and they found some sensitive data in the dump so unfortunately i can't share it. maybe a screenshot of the relevant part of the report would help (minus any sensitive info)?

  • Update: I went ahead and did a premier support request with Microsoft and just heard back from them. They are aware of the issue and looking at it. They do not have a fix at this time.

  • We are having this issue as well. we need IE11 for a web application we use.

only happens on windows 10 build 1809 for now. we also have windows 10 build 1803 that works fine in our environment.

we did try to uninstall and re-install IE11 through the windows features but the problem still persists.
