  • The progress bar sometimes does not update and stay at 0% and some of the updates are huge so you just have to be patient. However, if the problem still persist then I would suggest to delete everything under:

    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

This is where the updates are downloaded and sometimes got corrupted. By deleting everything in this folder, Windows Updates will re-download all the updates.

  • Hi realbishopp,

Did the issue occur with all the updates? Are the updates downloaded successfully now?

As Topgundcp suggested, we could clear the update cache to have a test. If it is still not available to download the updates, we could refer to the following link to reset the Windows Update components manually. Turn off the antivirus and the firewall temporarily, untick all the proxy configurations at the same time.

The "Windowsupdate.log" ("get-windowsupdatelog" powershell) would offer more information for downloading failure.

We could try to download them manually to have a troubleshoot.

If they are downloaded but fail to install, please open an administrator command line and run "sfc /scannow" or "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" to check the health of system files.
We also could try to perform a clean boot to have a troubleshoot.

The cbs.log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS)would offer more information to troubleshoot the installation failure.

    Best regards
