Server 2012 and 2016 can't read from the source file or disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have 2 vm's running server 2012 and 2016. Virtualized under vmware. We have had some issues with our backend storage. That all seems to be solved, but on these 2 servers I have an unknown number of files which can not be opened or removed. I can change the security settings, I can change file name, but thats all. When I try to copy, it gives the message: can't read the source file or disk.

I have already done some tricks
    chkdsk /f   or /scannow  or /r
    sfc /scannow
error checking in explorer on the disk
    reboot server

Anyone seen this / solution for this ?

  • Hi,

You have posted in Data protection Manager Forum support and this query is not related to it. However I would still like to help you with the above query. Could you please share the output for chkdsk /r scan result? Did it complete all 5 stages or it failed at some stage?
